'cooking is a creative work and I am very poor at creative work' कार्यकर्म सन्चलिका मन्दिरा बेदिले मलाई खाना बनाउन आउँदैन भन्न नसकेर यस्तो घुमौरो जवाफ एक पल्ट दिएकी थिइन्।

Documentary Film Festival
Today is the last day of Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival. It was started in Friday 7 Dec. I couldn't go to see any movies this time becoz of tight schedule on my holiday. But I watched 'Chulo, Choli Ra Banduk' last year.
I missed two great events this year. Kimff is one and the other is 'Brihat Pustak Pradarsani'.
The news and article in paper about these, make me feel more regretting. But I am happy with Film South Asia. I watched as many film as possible. I watched 5 documentaries.
Yesterday there was an interview of President of Kimff and he said that there is a certain group of young people who are interested in documentaries and to me, its a good news becoz documentary is taking a good market.

Birthday Celebration
We celebrated Akriti's birthday yesterday. She blew a candle which was accompanied by sliced cake. All gave her gift before she blew candle but it was only me who gifted her after blowing candle.we(especially me with loud voice) sang 'Happy Birthday to you' while she was blowing candle.
We enjoy such small celebrations so much at our home. We even make father to blow candle in his birthday.Although its a western culture of blowing candle and eating cakes in birthdays, we celebrate it becoz we don't want to miss such small happiness in our family.Celebrating such birthdays fill a kind of warmness within a family.
So what are u wating for?Go ahead to celebrate ur and ur family's birthday!!

'Who said money can't buy happiness?'
यसोदा दिदीले 'Sometimes money buy happiness' भन्न नपाउँदै गितिका दिदिले 'Money can buy happiness almost every time' भनिहाल्नु भयो।

'I found a note book'
I got chance to learn many things in documentation centre beside my work. Books became my teachers and a window to peep the world.
I visited Singapore, Canada, remote parts of the village through those books in Documentaion Centre.
One day, as usual days I was organising the books, I found a note book. I became curious towards this document because it was hand written.Otherwise all the books are printed.
The other factor that attracted me to look this particular note book was the beautiful handwriting of the writer and the language.
When,I scrolled down my eyes to this note book I found its language very interesting. The language is very direct. We can feel Nepali sound while reading it.The grammars are not correct( Although I am weak in English I could feel it).
Later I came to know the name of writer. Her name is Archana Thapa. She was a married women which I came to know after reading her notes. Where is she? What is she doing? I don't know anything about her.
But the message of the notes are very important to us as they reflect our real society.
A part of her notes goes like this:
Nov 20th Thursday
Female,18 Yrs, Kumal, Barah Gaon
[she is daughter of Dhan Bahadur Kumal]
She is studying in class 8.Before she got typhyoid thats why she was delayed in her study. In her class there are 79 students. Out of them 12 are Kumal. Her sister is studying in class 7 and in her class there are 35 Kumal. When I asked her about reason of decresing number of Kumal Students in higher class. She told one of the main reason is due to early marriage. Boys and girls at 7/8 class get marriage ownself(elope)then leave school. She said such kind of social disconstruction was in practice in her society since long ago.She told but her parents don't want to marry her soon. They always encourage her to study & they had told her they would expense in her study even by selling land,She told although her mother is illiterate if they didn't study she scold them.
on my question about behavior of teacher with Kumal Students, she told their teacher never encourage them.Bahun Chhetri students are good in studies than Kumal because they don't have to do household work like them. Also they take extra tution, coaching. But Kumal can not afford extra money on tution, coaching. Bahun Chhetri students understand lesson easily but kumal students are dull $ can't understand their lesson. But they don't tell their teacher about this due to fear and shame because otherwise teacher scold them . Their teacher usually scolded them saying"when can we improve by teaching rotten like you".and also says"what will you do by study, you can't do anything". She said .so she doesn't like them she said.
One time her Bahun chhetri friends told why they kumal comes school. They don't study. They (kumal) come only to disturb them. Then she discussed with her kumal friends and they together quarreled with them saying why they (Bahun,Chhetri)come in Kumal area, go in their own area. After this they hesitate to speak ill of Kumals.
She said nowadays Kumal are improving in education.4 Kumal are studying certificate level outside from Naukilo.

My Orchids
I got a new orchid plant, in my list of orchid collection this month. I must thank to Am dai who brought me orchid although it is hybrid, from Illam, a place famous for orchids.
Now I have seven different kinds of orchid in my home.
The first orchid is from the Dakshin Kali which I bought it in Rs 30. It grows in a pot. When it bloomed for the first time, I didn't like it becoz of very small size. Its size was similar to paddy's flower. But it bloomed very nice this year. The flower's were so attractive ,white flowers.
Second one is from a temple near home. It was an one year ago when I visited that temple, a huge tree was lying in the way to the temple. and it was covered with orchid plants. I took it out from there and brought a lot at home. It hasn't bloomed yet but I have seen its flowers. It's colour is dark purple.
Third and Fourth, It was also brought by a friend of mine from Sankhuwasava last year. I like to thank him as well. One one of the orchid bloomed in the same year. It's colour is light purple and it is growing tender leaves these days.Other plant is in the stage of 50 -50. I don't know wheather it survives or not.
Fifth and Sixth, I bought it from new road. The plants were so shiny when I bought it but it is also in the stage of 50- 50.
Seventh is from Am dai. I don't know about its flower. There are four buds in it. I think It blooms next week.
My Dream about Orchid
- To collect as many orchid as possible and make orchid farm especially of non hybrid orchids.
I wish I had a digital camera with high power of Zoom lens so that I could capture all the flowers and show all of u.

About grandfather again
Today, early in the morning my mom came to our room and started weeping. She said,'My father is ill and he is paralysed'.
My whole body freezed by hearing this and I became blank for a moment.
We came to know that our grand father is hospitalized in Dharan and my uncles are taking him India for treatment.
I immediately remembered the post of my article about him few days back and questioned to myself what was that??

Man Bahadur Majhya: My Maternal Grandfather
My mom is fond of telling her childhood days to me becoz we spent so much time in Kitchen as compared to my brothers and sister.
I remember every incident that she start to tell from its first line of starting. But I have to listen her as enthusiastically as I am hearing for the first time. She scolds if I didn't listen to her. If not, she says now you are big enough not to listen to me. No body cares to me as I cared all of u so much.
She tells about her father, mother, sister, brother,Kaka, kaki, phupu, boju and the villagers which she remembers.
My grandfather had a large joint family. He had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He took all the responsibilities to grow them up. He was the second son but he fulfilled as a role of first son.
My grandfather's eldest brother was an Indian army so he stayed out of home all the time. My mom said that he didn't like the job of 'Majhya' to collect all the revenue of that area and give to government. so he asked my grandfather to do all those jobs.
My great grandfather, Prashad Majhya was a drunkard so he couldn't do his jobs as 'Majhya'. My great great grandfather was a successful Majhya so he taught my grandfather to do all the jobs of Majhya in the village. After the death of my great great grandfather my grandfather at the age of 16, took all the responsibilities of majhya.
My great grandfather left my grandfather in so much debt. But by his effort, he paid all those debt and kept his family a happy family.
I know only the surface part of his life. But he is more than what I know about him. He is a real social worker. He has contributed a lot for his village'Madi in sankhuwasava'.
Some of the contributions are:

Some of the contributions are:
- Established a school in Panchayat system. There was only two school in whole Sankhuwasava district at that time. And one was in his village
- He is the one to establish water mill in the village.
- He brought electricity in the village
- He along with my grandmother ( keshar maya jimee) started kitchen garden for vegetable for the first time in the village
- He started Cardamom or Elainchi farming to the village. People in that area still make a lot of income with this farming
- He managed proper water system in the village
- Improved paths of the village
- Improved bridges in the rivers
- Established a boarding school in the village for the first time for good education
- Started Tea garden but couldn't succeed becoz of Maoist Problem.
Now he has only one vision that is to join the road to that village.
He is now in his early 80s but he is as active as he used to be. He is a man of simplicity. He never thought himself as a Majhya but as a man who is always ready to serve other.
I believe, he got all this success because of the contributions my grandmother made as well.

Remembering Damak
Damak is a town in eastern part of terai, surrounded by hills in northern side. The Ratwa River flows through Damak. It's a brief introduction about Damak.
But I remember Damak as a valuable place in my life always. There are a lot of things to remember about Damak. Especially my school Chulla Chulli Boarding.
The teachers and friends are the most valueable gift that I got in Chulla Chulli. I got chance to learn a lot of things from them. That is the moment to remember in my life always and that are the moments that made me 'Arati'.
Sarda Miss is always a inspiring teacher in my life. She is the one who inspired me to read literature. I can't forget her classes of Gulmohar, History and English. It used to be my favourite class. Her way to make understand to students was such a powerful.
Similarly Chandra sir, Nepali sir ( Upendra Parajuli), Ram Kaushil Sir and Bengali Sir are those teachers who not only taught lessons but taught the lessons of life.
The other part of Chulla Chulli are frens. Jharna and Binu are the vital part of my school life. They have a lot of influence in me. Teju, Khushbu, Pinka and Shiksha are the friends, with whom we along with Binu and Jharna, used to enjoy a lot.
There a lot of memories beside this, I will write later.

The Myth of Utis and Rhododendron
Note:
Rhododendron: Male
Utis : Female
Once Rhododendron wanted to marry so he went to ask the hand of Utis Tree in Autum Season. The tree of Rhododendron was very ugly. All the tree was covered by the bumps of knots of branches.
And Utis was in its full beauty as it was a season of her beautiness. She was tall, slim with shiny leaves.
'No one would like to marry with you' Utis said after looking Rhododendron.
Hearing this, Rhododendron was so angry and challenged ' Come in spring season to see me'.
Time passed away. Finally it was a time of Spring season. Utis remembered the challenged of Rhododendron and decided to see it once.
As it saw Rhododendron, covered with flowers it slipped through hill. So it is said that Utis tree grow only in the place where landslide occurs.

A girl with a blue earring
Note: This is my first article that I published in my brother's blog. I hadn't blog of my own at that time so now I am publishing it in my own blog. I hope u like it.
As always, that day I was in hurry to my college. I was walking on the way; my eyes got stopped in a earring which was lying in the middle of the road. Quickly I picked it up. I thought whether anybody was watching me or not only after picking it up. I relaxed nobody was watching because it was an early morning. I moved forward. I dropped it in my right hand pocket of my jacket. I was walking and my hand was inside my pocket which was holding that earring.
I was thinking who might have dropped it may be the girl of my same age because I see many girls of my age wearing such type of earring. I remembered a movie which I watched recently by that earring. The movie's title was' A girl with a pearl earring' and the actress was Scarlett Johansson. Only one earring was used in that movie.
I reached my college. I was holding it inside my pocket. Although I was very curious to see I didn't see it. The class was running and my hand was still holding that earring. As soon as the class was over I showed to my friends but they reacted passively may be they didn't hear me. I kept it in the same pocket. All the classes were over so I returned back home.
I watched it carefully. The earring was a circle earring of metal. A bell was there in the middle of the circle. The forward and backward of bell was decorated by some kind of steel golden flowers and plastic blue beads. There were seven different blue beads hanging in the bell. There were also five different blue beads hanging in those seven blue beads. I thought two beads were lost out of seven beads.
I showed to my mother. She said it is very beautiful and will be more beautiful if it is made out of gold. I showed to my sister and she too said it was beautiful and remembered her own earring which she took out from her jewellery box and put it herself and in the mean time I was writing the story of ' A girl with a blue earring' wearing that blue earring.

My comment: I always used to wonder how the bleeding heart looks after reading an article in kantipur by sukumaya, sister of parijat. In that article, she described it remembering her sis parijat on the anniversary of her death. Parijat was also a great lover of flowers.
Garden Larkspur
The garden larkspur, native to northern temperate regions, is a fast-growing, branching, annual flowering plant, grown for its colorful white, pink, or blue flowers. Reaching a height of 1.2 m (4 ft), larkspur grows best in a sunny location in fertile, well-drained soils. Plants of this genus may be especially susceptible to damage from slugs and snails.

love flowers
Tropical Orchid
Brazil’s tropical climate supports a rich variety of colorful flowers, such as this bright yellow orchid.
My comment: It's my second fav flower. I just love water lily but not as much as orchids.
My comment:The interesting fact about this flower is the number of petals of this flower is equal to the number of 'I love You' . so we used to call it 'I love U ' flower in jumla.

My comment: we used to call it' mike phul' becoz it looks like traditional mike similar to gramaphone.
The feathery, fernlike leaves of the evergreen shrub Mimosa pudica curl inward when touched. Tiny, deep-pink flowers appear in the summer.

Snapdragon
This garden variety of the snapdragon plant flowers in Skylands State Park, New Jersey. When the flower’s petals, said to resemble the mouth of a dragon, are pulled apart and released, they close with an audible snap—hence the plant’s name. Horticulturalists have developed many strains of snapdragons with varying colors and fragrance for ornamental use.

Hiking to the top of hill
Today we went on a hiking after a long time. We always plan for hiking but our plan goes always in vain. But today our plan succeeded.
When we left house at twelve o’clock and the rain was drizzling. We (My mother, my sister and I) bought some Rum Pum and Nepalese "Sel Roti" from near shop.
We were unaware of the way to up hill. This was our first time to go up the hill. We always see that particular hill from our home (Swoyambhu) very closely. We hadn’t gone there. Only my younger brother reached before us in last Dashain.
We moved forward by exploring our way. We were frightening from leech as it was season of leech. We reached to field of flower.

There were lots of flower and its farmers were busy in their field. The yellow, orange and red color Lahure flowers were blooming in the field. We bought some flowers and took photographs. Then we moved ahead.
After climbing little up we reached in that hill. It was a small hill. There was a tree of Salla in the middle of the hill. The large hills cover that small hill around it. The weather was rainy so the clouds were moving so near to the hill as if we can touch those clouds.

We took photos and ate food items that we had brought. It was time to return so we returned before it become late. But we made nice memories there.
I request all of u to go for hiking near the hills of Kathmandu. Please!! I swear you enjoy a lot.

The story of making paper
We have a famous saying in our home. ‘Everyone is creative during exam’
It is famous because we do something creative work in the examination. My elder brother made dustbin out of cylindrical part of Toilet Paper in the period of his exam.
I made candle stand from mud during the study period of exam. I don’t know why the creative ideas come only at the study period of exam.
By considering this in mind I wrote a list of plan to do after exam becoz the creative ides comes only during exams.
One of the plan was to make new paper out of old newspaper. The idea to make paper came to my mind by the tips of Bipana which she gave me several months ago.
First I need to do was to keep newspaper in water till it can be breakdown into fine pieces. I soaked newspaper at the time of exam. So that it would be ready to make papers after finishing my exam.
The exam got over and the paper was ready for making new paper. As said by Bipana, I made fine pieces of soaked newspaper. I was said that it needed a lot of newspaper to make paper. So I soaked a lot of newspaper. This took a lot of time to grind that newspaper.
I was doing all these with my sister. We were wandering how this can turn to paper. We were still grinding newspaper till afternoon nearly two and half hours. The sun was shining and we were grinding continuously.
The pieces of newspaper were fine enough to be paper. We came to know this because the spilled portion of that solution of water and newspaper started to dry in upper parts of our hand and on the floor.
‘Paper’ I shouted ‘Its paper’ the small pieces of paper was every where the solution was spilled.
We were so happy as if we discovered a new thing like Archimedes found the law of flotation in his bathroom and said ‘eureka’
Finally we made paper. We dried it in placing steel net which we got from store room.
We succeed in making two large papers which was equal to the size of chart paper.
We were so happy and content at the end of the day because we succeeded in making paper by ourselves.
Later we cut those paper in small size where we painted the nature and sent best wishes to our friends as dashain was coming near.
I still remember that happiness which I got when I first recognized the small pieces of paper and shouted “paper”

Is politics really a dirty game?
Just few days back, I read a slam book of my sister's friend. I went through the pages of that slam book. Reading slam book gives information about the types of people. So I like reading others slam book too.
I read thoroughly. Many girls and boys gave their opinion on Love, Life, Friendship, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Dress, Best Colour, Happy Moments, Unhappy Moments and so on.
Politics was also one of the topic in which opinion was given. I focused on it. The most common opinion on politics was ' A Dirty Game'.
How did politics become a dirty game in the eyes of boys and girls of class 10? How did politics get this tag?
Not only those boys and girls says it a dirty game, many intellectuals may opine it in same way. This is very bad impression about politics.
We should understand that politicians made it a dirty game but we shouldn't forget that it is only politics that makes a country, a developed country.

Dancing girl
May 10 2007
Sometimes we encounter such moment that we never think about. Something like that happened today.
My father asked my sister and me to bring today's newspaper at the evening at 7 pm. so we went to swoyambhu chowck. As we reached there we were attracted by the lights that were shining the face of Lord Buddha in Buddha Park. We decided to go to Buddha Park. We always see Buddha park in the day time. We rarely go there at the evening. The environment of Buddha Park is totally different in the evening. As I already said it is whole reflected by the yellowish colour of lights. The environment is very pleasant in yellowish colour.
We took a round of Lord Buddha’s beautiful golden statue. There is a huge Peepal tree in front of statue of Buddha. People enter Buddha Park from the left side of that Peepal tree and exit from the right side.
As we were leaving from there, a small girl may be of 8 or 9 yrs age, was dancing in the exit part of that park. We stopped there and sat under that tree to watch the girl who was dancing alone. There were gentleman watching the girl in the left side of that girl and her friends were watching her from the right side from where we were watching.
That small girl was facing opposite of Buddha and was dancing so beautifully.
She was wearing a white jama and that jama was decorated by light purple flowers. Her hair was little bit longer than shoulder length and she was wearing a red band in her head. Her hair was untied and was straight. She was wearing a sandal which she took out after dancing a while.
She was not nervous and was dancing very beautifully with beautiful steps and even she was lip singing.
The song was fast track song may be of Buddhism.
The steps she was making while dancing were different. Sometimes she moved her both hands at right side and sometimes to the left side. Likewise she moved her hand upwards, down wards, front side, backside, one hand up and one hand side wise. She clapped her hand in different styles. She sat and danced.
I was fascinated by her dancing. I watched her so carefully and her dancing steps.
She danced continuously. One of the gentlemen took photographs or may be video of that dancing little girl with his mobile camera.
The song was continuously going on and that little girl was dancing continuously. Many people watched and went as the girl as the girl was dancing continuously.
I decided to watch till the end. But the gatekeeper of that park asked us to leave the park because it was time to close the gate, so we rushed. But I was thinking of that girl. I asked to the gatekeeper who the little girl was. He said that she is the daughter of one of the person who lives inside that park.
While returning to home, my sister and I talked about that girl.
“May be that girl was taught about dancing steps" we said to each other.
But the amazing fact was that the song was continuous more than 20 minutes and the girl was dancing with different steps. How could she remember those steps and performing so beautifully without looking restless?
